The blind smartphone camera test 2019, [ Peoples Choice ]  The Winner Will Surprise You!

Welcome to the blind smartphone camera test 2019, so this idea really started last year when we wanted to do a test of all the best smartphone cameras really find out which is and done with PIXEL Vs Iphone, at the time but I also wanted to throw in the new SAMSUNG phone but then maybe people want  to see like a ONEPLUS, and it eventually just turned into lets just include them all anmd lets just throw them all on that, so from that the blind camera test was born and if you have been following along on twitter and instagram for about the past week you have seen that we have done it again this year and the results I think are fascinating, so the format is as you remember we took 16 SMARTPHONES, we set up a bracket of all of them  sort of seated in a way and then got to work.






SO HERE IS THE COMPETITORS THIS YEAR WE HAVE:

So as you can see, you can tell a pretty healthy a variety of flagships from smartphones, so you would probably consider the favorites in a test like this down to some mid-range phones, some budget ones and just some random ones thrown in there and our favorite part of this is there is so many cameras, and there is so many options that its impossible to like narrow it down.


So totally we went to the blind so we went out and we matched them all up from the bracket and we took the photos with all of the 16 smartphones again keeping in mind consistency and including in the photos that people typically take photos of skin tones for sure fabrics for texture different colors, dynamic range with the sky in the background as subject with a foreground and a background etc and every single one was just the default open the camera  tap a face take a photo with the exception of the xiaomi mi note 10 which we would open the camera app switch to the 108MP mode and then take the photo,  because that is the whole reason we included it so wer assign each phone a letter A all the way through P and we started on going together matching them up so every single one would have a match up one round at a time so we concludedthe test again the polling on instagram stories and on twitter so we are thankfully allowed to use images in polls in in tweets again on twitter so shoutout to them for allowing us do that, for this test so 4 MILLION VOTES LATER AND 2 MILLION TWITTER VOTES LATER, we have our winners so this is the BRACKET:

ROUND ONE:

So he went out,  and round one it’s a photo of MKBHD, and I think you have seeing the exact differences in the picture, we had the








The ASUS ZENFONE 6 absolutely crush the ONEPLUS 7T, and this is the parcentage of them

ONEPLUS 7T HAS GOTTEN – 23%
ASUS ZENFONE 6 HAS GOTTEN - 77%

Then we have the Huawei Mate 30 pro and Asus ROG phone 2 – so the Huawei Mate 30 pro has absolutely defeating the Asus Rog phone 2 and this is its parcentage.

HUAWEI MATE 30 PRO HAS – 69%
ASUS ROG PHONE 2 HAS – 31%

Then we have the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus and the Royal flex pay – So the Galaxy Note 10 plus has also beating the Royal flex pay With a parcentage of –


SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 10 PLUS – 77%
ROYAL FEXPAI – 23%

Then we have the Google Pixel 3a and the LG G8X –So the Google Pixel 3a has also beating the LG G8X with a parcentage of –

GOOGLE PIXEL 3A HAS –M91%
LG G8X HAS - 9%

Then we have on the other side the SAMSUNG GALAXY S10e and the XIAOMI MI NOTE 10 –



The SAMSUNG GALAXY S10e has also beating the XIAOMI MI NOTE 10 with a parcentage of –



SAMSUNG GALAXY S10e Has – 93%
XIAOMI MI NOTE 10 Has – 7%

Then we have the ONEPLUS 7T PRO and IPHONE 11 PRO -


Then the ONEPLUS 7T PRO Has also defeating the IPHONE 11 PRO  with a parcentage of –

IPHONE 11 PRO – 30%

ONEPLUS 7T PRO – 70%

Then we have the GOOGLE PIXEL 4 and the SONY XPERIA ONE –


Then GOOGLE PIXEL 4 its also defeating the SONY XPERIA ONE with a parcentage of –

GOOGLE PIXEL 4 – 90%

SONY XPERIA ONE – 10%

And also we have the HUAWEI P30 PRO and REDMI K20 PRO –


And lastly the REDMI K20 PRO beat the HUAWEI P30 PRO with a  parcentage of –

HUAWEI P30 PRO – 25%
REDMI K20 PRO – 75%

So here its you have seeing the differences, and it’s a very interestingly start none, was actually the remi over thr huawei which was about a 150 Thousand to 90 Thounsand on instagram  so pretty convincing in every single first-round photo some of these I would were expected some of these were definitely still in the category of upsets but we will get to all that in a bit round.


ROUND TWO:

So this is the round two, this is a photo of the hot sauce got some warm and cool tones in there, there is skin tones  there is a subject  with a slightly blurred background and there is some sharp text to read in the middle so in this round:


The Huawei Mate 30 pro has also narrowly beat the Zenfone 6 with a parcentage of –

Huawei Mate 30 pro – 55%

Asus zenfone 6 – 45%

Below we have the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus and the GOOGLE PIXEL 3a –

 And also the Galaxy Note 10 plus has also beating the Google Pixel 3a with a parcentage of –

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus – 62%

Google Pixel 3a – 38%

 Then on the other side the Samsung galaxy s10e has also beating the Oneplus 7T pro with a parcentage of –

Samsung Galaxy s10e – 63%

Oneplus 7T pro – 37%

And Google Pixel 4 has also defeating the Redmi K20 PRO with a parcentage of –

REDMI K20 PRO -14%
GOOGLE PIXEL 4 – 86%

So actually before all of the stuff and all of this happened I filled out sort of my own bracket of what I predicted I thought win and I had the Mate 30 pro carrying a torch to the end  for a repeat of the finals like last year but other than that igot a lot of this stuff wrong I feel like you may have to weird but still kind of up for grabs to the next one.


ROUND THREE:


So the round 3 was the roaster diecast model photo plenty of colors on purpose the subject and the background a little out of focus again skin tones and  and wew outdoors and in this:


The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus beat the Huawei Mate 30 Pro with a parcentage of –

Samsun Galaxy Note 10 plus – 61%

Huawei Mate 30 Pro – 39%

On the other side the Samsung Galaxy s10e has also defeating the Google Pixel 4 with a parcentage of –

Samsung Galaxy s10e – 59%

Google Pixel 4 – 41%

Oh as you you can see these two phones came from the same brand, and I guess this we probably should have expected this putting essentially the same camera on both side of the bracket but I guess you could say we also did that with pixel 3a  and pixel 4but literally we didn’t expect them to be the finals maybe you did  but that’s what happened so the finals essentially the same camera pitted against itself which ijust took as a landscape photo around a window  not a whole ton of variety because I sort of figured it wouldn’t matter anyway but the shoutout to SAMSUNG for doing a great job in technology this year…




FINALS:


The Galaxy Note 10 plus has also beating the Galaxy s10e with a parcentage of –

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus –  67%

Samsung Galaxy s10e – 33%

     Congratulations Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus!

 So this is the final brackets some weird wild results mixed in but a lot  of the same principles from last years blind test we are stillon display here plus. So basically when put two smartphone photos next to each other on social media where everything is very much COMPRESSED, essentially SHARPNESS now matters a lot less detailed matters TEXTURE as matters less even CONTRAST, also it doesn’t matter essentially when all else is the same and you put them right next to each other  people are gonna just pick the brighter photo, this has not changed and a lot  of that explains  the first two round of this really well basically in the camera app for all these we just tapped on my face and very consistently for every single photo and some brought the exposure up a little others often the good ones brought it up a little bit but kept more of the background in the shot with more dynamic range so really just the ones that brightened me up the most tended.

 So but then this is actually where I started to find something else, or something new starting in this round and people are actually starting to reply and comment that thet were doing this people starting voting for the photo that just had more in focus, so in this photo, the mate 30 pro on  the top note 10 is on  the bottom not much of a differences in brightness or color so people started pixel peeping a little bit and you can clearly tell the background is more blurred in the top photo oh you know the color chart my sneakers the green chair behind me all of it is blurry or behind it which this is a kind of backwards because we generally like soft out focus background that is more expensive look that is coming out of a full size cameras which more bigger sensors that is why we have portrait mode on these smartphones to sort of fake that look with the tiny sensors we have in these but even among smartphones camera some sensors are bigger than others and so if you know HUAWEI

 you lnow they are one of the ones to stuff a massive sensor in their phone which is why even without portrait mode on in the subject is in focus the way and the background is more bblurred than some smartphone sensors so now you know you put two phones next to each other compairing them brings up these tendencies in people where apparently the masses decided  that they would select the with more in focus as better even  though technically speaking it is in theory worse because it’s a telltale sign of a smaller sencor if we look at the other side of the bracket you can see same thing now in this case the s10e on top is also a bit brighter  than the pixel four at the bottom so  that is a bit of an advantages off the start but even still putting to each other where the four at the bottom clearly took a better photo its more neutral there is more colors more dynamic range there is no blown highlights on the red of the roadster more accurate tones.

 Congratulations to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus for the 2nd Winner of best blind smartphones camera test 2019 people choice and yeah maybe we will feel even a little but different about this later thiusyear when twitter is now stopping a compression of JPEG photos and full size photo viewing you never know the landscape could be shaken up againg but either but either way until the next one catch you guys……
